What to Expect
One of the most intimidating aspects of trying something new is not knowing what to expect. Sometimes, rather than take a chance on being embarrassed or uncomfortable, people just avoid it. At Cayman Islands Baptist Church, we believe that God and church are so important that you shouldn't avoid it. So we want you to have some idea of what to expect when you come to Cayman Islands Baptist Church. Each of our services is a little different, but there are some things that are the same no matter which service you attend:
| God will be the focus |
|
| The Bible will be our guidebook |
God has given us the Bible to teach us about Him and about His desire for our lives. All of our meetings have strong Bible teaching that clearly explains how the Bible can be applied to our daily lives. |
| The music will help us think about God | Our music is designed to focus our minds on God or our lives with Him. We use both traditional hymns and modern choruses to practice the Biblical commands to worship God and to teach each other through singing. |
Sunday morning services start at 10:00am. As you arrive you'll be personally welcomed, given a bulletin and shown towards the seating area (if desired you can be escorted to a seat as well). If you've got any questions, the ushers will usually be able to answer them. As you sit down, you will notice a real mixture of ages and types of people around you. Some are smartly dressed but others more casual, so whatever you are wearing you should feel comfortable.
We try to make the service itself varied and interesting, since we want it to be enjoyable for people of all ages and backgrounds. There are formal and informal elements to it. Everything serves to draw focus on God and our relationships with Him. You can always find out where we are in the service and what's next by looking at the running order inside your bulletin.
We love to sing and praise God in a way that contains contemporary and traditional elements, but that is also very reverent. Our music is drawn largely from traditional hymns and the many of the new contemporary songs and choruses. The singing is usually led by a music leader with the musical accompaniment of keyboards and guitars (with other instruments added from time to time).
The whole point of our meeting is to help us to get to know God better, so that we can appreciate him more and discover more about how he wants us to live. So as well as setting aside time for prayer, we'll always take the time to listen to what the Bible says, and what it means to live as a Christian in the modern world. The message (varying in length but around 25 minutes in the morning) aims to be engaging, relevant and based on the Bible. Following each message is an opportunity for you to respond should you feel led. The pastor will offer you the chance to receive Christ as your saviour, to ask for prayer and/or join our membership.
Many children and young people join us each Sunday and we see them as an integral part of our community. Babies and infants (up to 4 years old) have childcare available for the entire service (upstairs on the right). Older children (ages 5-12) have their own programme in Children's Church (upstairs on the left).

Our music is designed to focus our minds on God or our lives with Him. We use both traditional hymns and modern choruses to practice the Biblical commands to worship God and to teach each other through singing.
