A Word from Pastor Randy -Jan 11
A Word from Pastor Randy . . .
What an incredible Sunday morning we experienced together this past weekend! If you were present, you know what I mean. On that second of "Five Great Sundays of January," we were "stepping up for our families," . . . and so many did! Many men and women, heads of household and young people and children set themselves by the Holy Spirit's grace and prompting to step up for their families in a renewed commitment to live responsibly as a follower of Jesus Christ. The crowd was huge; the music was amazing, most importantly, the worship was so Christ-centered and God-glorifying. A special thanks to our guests, John and Rashel Cornish, for leading our Praise Team as they led us!
As we continue to "step up" through the month of January, we are looking forward to the coming three weekends. This Sunday, January 15, holds promise for another great day in the Lord. We will welcome the Southern Gospel Quartet, "The Kingdom Heirs", as they share the Gospel in four-part harmony and Scripture based lyrics. You may remember them from last year when they sang four or five songs for us.
Well, they are back, and the Sanctuary will reverberate even more than before with their special music. For twenty-five years, the Kingdom Heirs have been the featured singing group at the Dollywood Theme Park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, performing their Christ exalting music for hundreds of thousands of people over the years. This is a very special opportunity being given to us to have them for our morning worship. Come early; get your seat . . . and let's pray for Christ to be lifted up. And you know what that means . . . He will draw all people to Himself! This third Sunday of January is our "step up" for the Gospel-stepping up to share the Good News of Jesus Christ boldly and intentionally in the Cayman Islands and around the world!
Let me call our women to take note of a very special Women's Fellowship Breakfast set for this weekend, on Saturday, January 14, 9:00 to 11:00am, at The Blue Iguana Grill, Ramada Grand Caymanian Resort. Come join with the ladies of Cayman Islands Baptist Church in this great time of fellowship. The buffet breakfast is by reservation only. Cost is CI$14.95 per person, and includes gratuity. Please let us know if you are planning on coming by contacting the Church Office (946-2422 or email cibaptist@candw.ky) for your reservation no later than Wednesday afternoon, January 11. For those who may not be sure how to find the Resort, turn left off Esterley Tibbetts Highway near Ritz-Carlton to Safe Haven Drive, and continue past North Sound Club Golf Course.
We still need a couple of homes for the coming Advanced International Training School for our group from Honduras. Please prayerfully consider how God would use you to minister to these ministers of the Gospel as they join us for this time of pastoral training. We are blessed in the Cayman Islands with so much; our homes are spacious compared to those in other parts of the world-would God want you to use what He has blessed you with as a means of blessing to others? Give us a call at the Church Office if you can house one or two persons, or three or four, for the seven days, January 20-27. Your obligation is to provide lodging, breakfast each day, transportation to the church building for class each morning beginning at 8:00 a.m., and on Sunday, January 22, to bring them to church, take them to lunch, and give them an opportunity to see something of the island. Let us know if you can help us. A special thanks to all who have already signed up. We will be sending out a detailed schedule of the week by the end of this week.
Now . . . let me close with this special invitation. Some of you already saw the movie, "Courageous," on New Year's Eve . . . many of were unable to do so and therefore have not seen this awesome film. We are showing the movie 6:30 on Sunday evening, January 22.
I am calling on each of you to make every effort to bring everyone you know in your circle of influence (Family, friends, work associates, etc.) to see this amazing story of courage. Men, in particular, need to come! Fathers, bring your sons and daughters; sons and daughters, bring your parents! Mothers, get behind this and let's reach out to bring your family. The movie lasts for two hours . . . we should be out by 8:45! Though many of you may have access to DVD's to watch at home-there is nothing quite like seeing this film on the large, cinema-quality screen in a gathering of other families! If you have seen it already, come again-I enjoyed my second viewing even more than the first.
Thank you for your response to the January emphasis and call to faithfulness. I am deeply touched by your support and many affirmations of what God is doing in your lives and in our church family and community.
In Christ, for His glory,
Pastor Randy
