God is at work
For those of you who have been in worship with us over the past few Sundays, you don't need me to tell you how special our gatherings have been! Worship has been truly worship - Christ has been exalted and we have worshipped Him in "spirit and in truth." From the moving songs and music of worship by our Praise Team to the leadership and involvement of our youth, the past two Sundays in particular, have been especially significant in our expression of praise and worship. On this past Sunday, we were all ministered to through the Word as Hayes Singleton brought the message of God for us in such a powerful and sincere delivery. The DiscipleNow Weekend at the Prospect Youth Centre spilled over into the larger congregation as we all heard the call to be "souled out" to Jesus Christ. Thank you, Hayes, and thank you, young people, for leading us before the Throne of God and for challenging us in our following of Jesus to present our all at the point of His grace and call!
And the challenge and excitement of this summer continues . . . Vacation Bible School and Kids' Camp are on the horizon! This tremendously important week of outreach and ministry launches on Sunday, June 17, with a commissioning of our faculty and staff and the welcoming of our guest leaders. VBS - "The Big Apple Adventure" - begins bright and early on Monday morning, July 18 and continues through Friday, July 22. Kids' Camp will occupy the afternoons each day. We are expecting an overflow of children as the word has spread about this incredible week of ministry. I am asking each of you to hold our leaders and boys and girls up in prayer as you seek the Lord each day in your quiet time. And, as you pray, be sure to thank Him for His Hand upon us in giving us such an opportunity for mission and ministry. Our mission is to change our world beginning here in Savannah - and summers like this one are evidence that we are on track!
I love history . . . I love the stories of life and faith that have brought us to the moments we share today. Someone wisely reminded me years ago that history is "His story." Yes, all of history is a witness to the work of God and the response of His people. From the faithful Apostolic Fathers and Apologists like Ignatius and Polycarp of the Second Century through to the brave reformers like Luther and Hubmaier of the 15th-16th centuries, and on to the faithful witness of early preachers and missionaries in the Cayman Islands like Herbert and Jackie Neely, we are the heirs of a rich legacy of faith. We honor that legacy as we live faithfully in our time, "making history" for the next generation! God is at work today - right here at Cayman Islands Baptist Church and in your life and mine! Let's continue to press forward for His glory as we trust the Lord for all that He would do in and through us. Let the history that will be recorded for this summer speak to the amazing work of God in our midst!
I will be preaching from Luke 9 this Sunday on what happened on the Mount of Transfiguration, the high point of the disciples' journey with Jesus. Bring your family and invite your friends and let's study God's Word together!
Sincerely in Christ,
Pastor Randy
